KENNER – The third and last of three suspects allegedly involved in the robbing, beating and attempted murder of a Kenner man in a Destrehan apartment was arrested Friday in a Kenner hotel. Danny Polizzi, 19, of 4201 Hessmer Ave., Apt. 4, Metairie, was charged with attempted first-degree murder after an April 7 incident in which he, a second man and a woman allegedly held the 31-year-old victim in an apartment, where they robbed him of $1,800. Capt. Patrick Yoes of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office said Polizzi was discovered at the Park Plaza Inn, where he held police off for more than three hours before he was persuaded by his sister to open the door. He was found not to be armed. The other two suspects were arrested earlier. Brandi Lynn Mitchell, 23, of Destrehan, allegedly held a gun on the victim while he was beaten and robbed. He had arrived at the apartment with Mitchell the evening before and was awakened by being beaten in the head with a gun by the two men. Following a struggle, during which the victim made his escape, someone fired two shots at the fleeing man, who sustained numerous cuts and broken bones in the beating. Mitchell was arrested shortly after the April incident. The second man, Jonathan Cournet, 25, of Slidell, was arrested the following month. A St. Charles Parish Grand Jury issued an indictment May 24 on Polizzi, but it was not until Friday that he was located by authorities. Bond was set on Polizzi at $500,000 by 29th Judicial District Judge Kirk Granier. Following the arrest, the suspect was transported to an area correctional facility.
