Once in a while, there is genuine good news in a newspaper, and the flurry of activity yesterday to get the story on the heroism of several people who rescued two infants from a submerged car stirred emotions here as well. A Des Allemands man was one of several people who recently risked their own lives to save the lives of two helpless children, while their mothers stood by on shore, praying as hard as they could. Prayers this time came true, and the children were saved. On Monday, the men received the best reward possible – the gratitude of the two mothers. We also would like to offer our congratulations to Tucker Scioneaux and the others who answered the call of need and gave the gift of life to two babies. We can hope there are many more like Tucker Scioneaux in this area. We need them.
