SOUTH VACHERIE – Beatrice Steib Baptiste, 70, a native and resident of Vacherie, died July 7. She was the wife of the late Raymond Baptiste and mother of Adam Paul Baptiste.She was also the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Josephia Philip Steib and sister of Olivia Joseph, Leona Dumas, Lydia Keller, Elroy Steib and the late Josephine Isom and Paul Steib.She is also survived by two grandchildren.Services are today at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, South Vacherie, with interment at the church cemetery. NORCO – James Lee “Jim” Brown, 80, a native of Kalamazoo, Mich., and resident of Norco, died July 7. He was the husband of Zelma Braud Brown and father of Darlene Lawson and Gilrma, Leigh, Bernadette, Leonard and Frank Brown.He was also the son of the late Frank H. and Eva Marie Weller Brown and brother of Elizabeth Rineveld and the late Frances Edgerley and Frank Brown.He is also survived by two grandchildren.Services were July 10 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Norco, with interment at Hope Have Cemetery, Prairieville.DUGAS
KENTWOOD – Percy Antoine Dugas, 77, a native of Lucy and resident of Baton Rouge, died July 7. He was the husband of Ernie Martin Dugas and father of Linda Clark, Larry Smith, Tammy Scott and Paula and Steven Dugas.Ke was also the brother of Ethel Abee, Theresa Champaigne and Allen Dugas.He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Services were July 10 in the chapel of McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, with interment at New Zion Cemetery, Kentwood.GUIDRY
PAULINA – Elsie Zeringue Guidry, 79, a native of Welcome and resident of Lutcher, died July 6. She was the wife of the late Roland L. Guidry and mother of Donna Ray and Roland Jr. and Reggie Guidry.She was also the daughter of the late Arcade and Elise Dufresne Zeringue and sister of Hazel Guidry, Annabelle Schexnayder, Donna Vicknair, Gloria, Earl, Ray and Harry Zeringue and the late Grace Faucheaux and Myrtis Lambert.She is also survived by eight grandchildren.Services were July 9 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina, with interment at the church mausoleum.HAYDEL
NEW ORLEANS – Lawrence Etienne Haydel Sr., 87, a native of Edgard and resident of New Orleans, died July 5. He was the father of Marie Roche, Linda Britton, Anne Delery, Carolyn Mesin and Theresa, Carl, Gary, Merlin, Dale Wayne and Lawrence Haydel Jr.He was also the brother of George Haydel.He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.Services were July 10 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, New Orleans, with interment at Lake Lawn Park Cemetery.MORRIS
EDGARD – Ethel Mae Shepperd Morris, 75, a native and resident of Edgard, died July 3. She was the mother of Laura Aly, Beverly Williams, Gloria Stockman, Brenda Batiste and Dorothy Johnson.She was also the sister of Mercedes Fountain, Blanche Foucher and Ellau Shepperd.She is also survived by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.Services were July 7 at Greater New St. Peter Baptist Church, Edgard, with interment at Young Cemetery, Edgard.THOMAS
LAPLACE – Esther D. Thomas, 91, a native of Reserve and resident of Kenner for 15 years, died July 6. She was the wife of the late Willard H. Thomas and mother of Diana Coussou.She was also the daughter of the late Arthur and Edna Jacob Delaneuville and sister of Ophelia Barbin and the late Lloyd and Dewey Delaneuville.She is also survived by one grandchild.Services were July 9 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.TREECE
nESERVE – Wilfred “Buddy” Treece, a native of New Orleans and resident of LaPlace for 34 years, died July 5.
