LHS completes winning week

LUTCHER – The Lutcher Lady Bulldogs had a successful week on the diamond last week, defeating Live Oaks and placing first in pool play at the Sulphur Tournament. Lutcher 10-ruled Live Oaks last Thursday, coming away with a 14-4 victory in six innings. Leading the way at the plate were Michelle Roussel who went 3-for-3 with two runs batted in. Lyndi Martin went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Lindsey Louqe also had three RBIs with a triple. Cary Roussel went 2-for-2 with two RBIs while Carlie Humphries went 2-for-4. Live Oak scored first in the top of the second before Lutcher answered with five runs. Live Oak closed to within 5-4 before the Lady Bulldogs broke through for seven runs in the fifth. In the sixth inning, Kassie Waguespack and Cary Roussel singled and were brought home when Martin doubled. In the Sulphur Tournament, Lutcher defeated St. Joseph’s, 4-0, Friday. Michelle Roussel gave up one hit in the top of the third while the defense commited one error. Waguespack went 1-for-2 with an RBI while Martin had an RBI in going 1-for-1. Humphries gave up two hits in the third and fourth inning but the defense denied any runs as the Lady Bulldogs defeated Sacred Heart, 1-0, Saturday. Louque doubled to plate the only run of the game. Lutcher completed the sweep in pool play with a 7-1 victory over Lafayette. Michelle Roussel gave up one hit and two walks while striking out seven. Lutcher broke through in its first at-bat as Roussel walked and Humphries beat out a bunt. With runners at each cornewr, Waguespack tripled to center to score both. In the top of the fifth, Ciji LeBlanc reached on an error. Roussel and Humphries then follow with singles. Tiffany Arceneaux brought home two runs with a hit with Waguespack scoring Jamie Duhe on a single up the middle. A single by Martin scored Kaneeka Taylor for the final run of the game. Lutcher is playing in the Brusly Tournament this weekend.
