Holden ends RCS’s run

HOLDEN – Holden ended Reserve Christian’s quest for a third straight trip to the Top 28 Tournament, rallying from a 10-point deficit for a 61-53 victory in the Class B quarterfinals Friday night. Holden (29-11) advances to the Top 28 for the first time since 1964. The Rockets will play Dubach in the semifinals tonight in the Cajundome in Lafayette. Reserve Christian, which had advanced to the semifinals each of the past two years, finished at 35-16. Reserve Christian jumped out to a 16-12 first quarter lead and led by 10 in the second quarter before Holden cut it to 25-19 at the half. A 17-10 third quarter run gave the Rockets a 36-35 lead going into the fourth quarter. A 3-pointer and a layup by the Eagles’ Demarcus Branch tied the game at 53 in the fourth quarter but the Rockets scored the final eight points of the contest. Reserve Christian was led by Frankie Francois with 15 points. Branch added 10 and Matt McGee and Demond Carter had nine apiece. Brad Addison scored a game-high 21 points for the Rockets. Chad Courtney added 16, Judah Richardson 12 and Jason Hawthorne 10.
