LAPLACE – The 2000 football season is winding down but already plans are being made to kick off the 2001 season. The local coaches got together Tuesday at the LaPlace Holiday Inn to discuss the schedule for the River Parishes Jamboree. The Jamboree, in its ninth year, will be held at Destrehan and Hahnville high schools Aug. 23-24. East St. John and Riverside kick off the Jamboree that Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Destrehan. Destrehan and Lutcher follow. Friday’s action begins with West St. John and St. Charles Catholic at Hahnville at 6:30 p.m. Hahnville and St. James conclude the action. A sponsor is needed for the Jamboree. Anyone interested can contact any one of the local coaches.
