Couple wed at St. Joan of Arc Church

Marie Angelle Vicknair and Steven Michael Turner were united in marriage Jan. 6 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, with the Rev. Msgr. Robert Vincent and the Rev. Earl Toups, C.S.S.R., officiating the ceremony. A reception followed at the Crystal Plantation. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Vicknair and the granddaughter of Lillian Scurich, the late Frederick Mehrtens Sr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Vicknair Jr. She is a graduate of East St. John High School. The bride is attending Nicholls State University, where she is majoring in cardiopulmonary care, and will receive an associate’s degree in cardiopulmonary and a bachelor’s degree in allied health in July. She is president of the Student Respiratory Therapy Association and is also a member of the Monsignor Dennis Bergeron Kaycee Auxiliary. The bridegroom is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Turner and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Camanita and the late Mr. and Mrs. Euge Turner. He attended Bonnabel High School and is employed by Academy of the Sacred Heart, as a maintenance technician. He is a member of the LaPlace Volunteer Fire Department and is also a member of the Monsignor Dennis Bergeron Knights of Columbus. Following a honeymoon in Gatlinburg, Tenn., the couple will reside in LaPlace.
