LAPLACE – Valerie Elvin Earlie Cambre, 63, a native of Mississippi and resident of LaPlace for 34 years, died Jan. 25. She was the wife of Michael “Boyo” Cambre Sr. and mother of Michael Cambre Jr., Deborah Cortez, Linda Smitty, Denise Thompson, Charles, Richard and Gregory Doster and the late Lisa Marie Butter and Randy Doster.She was also the daughter of Juanita Nichols and the late Alvin Nichols and sister of Evelyn Dinkin and Charles, Wilton Nichols and the late Durell Nichols.She is also survived by 19 grandchildren.Services were Jan. 30 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace. LOUQUE
RESERVE – Alfred Joseph “Peck” Louque Jr., 72, a native and resident of Hester, died Jan. 27. He was the husband of the late Katherine Cox Louque and father of Sally Roussel and Alfred “Lucky” III, Glenn, Robin and Joey Louque.He was also the son of the late Alfred Sr. and Melodia Roussel Louque and brother of six surviving sisters and six surviving brothers. He was preceded in death by one brother.He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandchild.Services were Jan. 30 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at the church cemetery. OUBRE
VACHERIE – Freddie Pierre Oubre Sr., 78, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Jan. 25. He was the husband of Pauline Philip Oubre and father of Catherine Pedescleaux and Freddie Jr., Raymond and Michael Oubre.He was also the son of the late Amelise Sr. and Catherine Dumas Oubre and brother of Aimee Narcisse, Amelise Jr. and Ursin Oubre Sr. and the late Norine Domino, Josephine Scott and Catherine, Eddie, Joseph and Oscar Oubre.He is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.He was a retired school bus driver.Services were Jan. 30 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, South Vacherie, with interment at the church mausoleum. SCONTRINO
LAPLACE – Tammy Heltz Scontrino, 41, a native of Garyville and resident of LaPlace for 23 years, died Jan. 27. She was the wife of Joey Scontrino III and mother of Nicole and Derek Scontrino.She was also the daughter of the late Ernest Sr. and Elma Heltz and sister of Gina Krause, Pamela Montz and Ernest Jr. and Christopher Heltz.Services are today at 10 a.m. at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace. COLLINS, Miss. – Johnny S. Smith, 55, a resident of Seminary, Miss., died Jan. 24. He was the husband of the late Laura Hebert Smith and father of Vera Hull of Collins and Randall Hebert Sr. of Gonzales.He was also the son of the late Ellen Rose Ard Smith Crain, stepson of the late Evon Crain and brother of Barbara Lilly of Sorrento and Peggy King of Prairieville.He is also survived by six grandchildren.Services were Jan. 26 in the chapel of Billy M. King Colonial Chapel, Collins, Miss., with interment at Speed Cemetery. TAUZIN
PARADIS – Henry John Tauzin, 69, a native of Gretna and resident of Bayou Gauche, died Jan. 27. He was the husband of Elsie Matherne Tauzin and stepfather of Michael Austin.He was also the son of the late Henry and Eunce Delaune Tauzin and brother of Hazel Maness and Emile and Rudy Tauzin.He was a U.S. Navy Korea veteran.Services were Jan. 29 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Paradis, with interment at Sunset Cemetery, Bayou Gauche.
