Cothren’s TaeKwonDo Plus wins 63 awards

LAPLACE – TaeKwonDo Plus area schools hosted the Regional TaeKwonDo Championships Jan. 20 in Gretna with over 350 competitors from the New Orleans area. Students from Gretna, Kenner, New Orleans, Buras, Slidell, Luling and LaPlace competed for trophies and awards in forms, free forms and sparring competitions. The belt levels ranged from beginner white belt through third degree black belt. The grand champion in the men’s division was awarded to Michael Owens of New Orleans East TaeKwonDo Plus. Gianna Cothren of William Cothren’s TaeKwonDo Plus in LaPlace was awarded grand champion in the women’s division. Overall, students from the LaPlace school won 63 trophies, including 20 first places, 18 seconds, 20 thirds and five fourth places. In the white belts, Noah Cambre was second in forms and third in sparring. For yellow belts, Angelle Branham was second in forms and second in sparring. Jeromy Murray was second in forms and third in sparring. In the green belts, Darius Adams was second in forms and first in sparring. Jessie Bailey was fourth in forms. Alex Matherne was third in forms. Andre Senauth was first in forms. Stephen Lane was also first in forms. Daylis Senauth was second in forms. Jared Ockmond was also second in forms and third in sparring. Andrneka Keller was third in forms. Also in the green belts, Monique Briggs was fourth in forms. Dwayne Tauceda was first in forms. Jamond LaGrande was first in forms. Ricky LaNoue was third in forms as was Benjamin Cooper. Christopher Tregre was fourth in forms. Damian Dinet was third in forms and third in sparring. And Justin Gennaro was second in forms. For the blue belts, Damone Stokes was second in sparring. Lance Lopez was first in forms and second in sparring. Christopher Fernandez was second in forms and first in sparring. Felix Joseph was third in forms. Mario Franco was second in sparring. David Cable was also second in sparring. And Sean Comiskey was first in forms and third in sparring. In the purple belts, David Flournoy was fourth in forms. Nick Flournoy was third in forms. Angela Johnson was first in forms. Daniel Miller was second in forms and second in sparring. Matthew Nicolay was second in forms. Cory Scott was first in forms and first in sparring. And Kelsey Scott was second in forms. For the red belts, Trenton Dunn was third in forms and first in sparring. Justin Strohmeyer was first in forms and third in sparring. Stephen LeBlanc was first in forms. And Edgar Avalos was first in forms and third in sparring. In the black belts, Warren Lennix was first in free form and first in sparring. Gregory Jackson was third in forms and third in sparring. Tim Sibley was third in sparring. Nancilyn Sibley was first in forms. Timothy Sibley was second in forms and first in free form. Jason Trevino was third in forms. Joseph Trahan was fourth in forms. And Gianna Cothren was first in sparring.
