AUSTIN

HAHNVILLE – Augustine Gloria Myers Austin, 74, a native of New Orleans and resident of Hahnville, died Jan. 19. She was the wife of the late Warren “Jelly Bean” Austin Sr. and mother of Victoria Turner, Mary White, Ethel Howard, Vera White, Verna Marshall, Augustine Wilson, Lorraine, Evelyn, Warren Jr. and John Austin, the late Helen Moore and three infants.
She was also the daughter of the late Estazzie Bujol and James Myers Sr. and sister of Lydia Breaux and the late Mae Moultrie, Estazzie Baptiste, Rachel Nicks and James Jr., Carroll, Joseph and Murphy Myers.
She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Philadelphia Baptist Church, Hahnville, with interment at St. James United Methodist Cemetery, Hahnville. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.

FREDERICK

GARYVILLE – Joseph Frederick Jr., 77, a native and resident of Garyville, died Jan. 22. He was the husband of Sedonia C. Frederick and father of Earl and Ervin Frederick.
He was also the son of the late Joseph Sr. and Georgiana C. Frederick and brother of Gustavia Shepard.
He is also survived by a host of grandchildren.
Services were Jan. 26 at New Hopeful Baptist Church, Garyville, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.

GRIFFIN

ST. JAMES – Sarah Carter Griffin, 82, a native and resident of St. James, died Jan. 21. She was the wife of the late Henry Griffin Sr. and mother of Isabelle, Lillion and the late Clarence, Charles, Gladys, Vivian and Henry Griffin Jr.
She was also the daughter of the late Dennis and Racheal Carter.
She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church, St. James, with interment at Burton Lane Cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

JOSEPH

RESERVE – Willie Joseph, 63, a native and resident of Reserve, died Jan. 19. He was the husband of Carolyn Jones Joseph, father of Hilton Frank, Linda Washington, Margie Wright and Reginald Joseph and stepfather of Stacy Jones and Tangelina Charles.
He was also the son of the late Robert and Stella Reynolds Joseph and brother of Beatrice Weber, Ethel Coleman, Emelda Stewart and Andrew, Robert, Charlie and Lionel Joseph.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

MEDISE

DONALDSONVILLE – Leola Medise, 86, a native of St. James Parish and resident of Modeste, died Jan. 23. She was the daughter of the late Morris and Albertha Melancon and sister of Marjorie Johnson and the late Elizabeth Williams, Leanna Rosemond, Rosetta Julien and Morris Melancon.
She is survived by a niece, Lorraine Robinson, and eight nephews, Aaron Julien, Timothy Robinson Jr. and Arthur, Percy, Valentine, Sidney, James and Walter Rosemond.
Services were Jan. 26 at First Baptist Church, Donaldsonville, with interment at the church cemetery.

PETTY

IDA – Crit Petty Jr., 83, a native of Ida and resident of Des Allemands, died Jan. 22. He was the husband of Lillie Cobb Petty and father of Mary Chester and Charles, David and the late Suzanne and Michael Petty.
He was also the son of the late Crit Sr. and Gypsy Bell Petty and brother of Damaris Boston, Douglas Petty and the late Myrtle Thompson, Ingles Pruitt and Joseph, Frank and Merwin Petty.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at Ida Methodist Church, with interment at Bethsaida Cemetery, Ida. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

POTIER

GUEYDAN – Clifton Potier Sr., 54, a native of Gueydan and resident of Reserve for 34 years, died Jan. 24. He was the former husband of Delores Trisler and father of Cynthia Boone and Clifton Potier Jr.
He is also survived by four grandchildren.
Services were Jan. 26 in the chapel of Vincent Funeral Home, Gueydan, with interment at Gueydan Cemetery.

THIBODEAUX

MARRERO – Eddie Thibodeaux, 84, a native of Gheens, former longtime resident of Westwego and resident of Luling and Des Allemands for the past 15 years, died Jan. 23. He was the husband of Edith Sapia Thibodeaux and father of Joyce Rudolph, Dolly Monceaux, Katie Vegas, Tillie Breaux and Kerman Thibodeaux.
He was also the son of the late Alexander and Gloria Pierce Thibodeaux and brother of Melia Orgeron, Mable Guilliot, Beulah Chaisson, Eva Ordoyne, Lorena Adams, Norris Thibodeaux and the late Estellina Vicknair, Gertie Danos and Enola and Euna Thibodeaux.
He is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one great-grandchild.
Services were Jan. 26 in the chapel of Westside Funeral Home, Marrero, with interment at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Mausoleum, Westwego.
