BOUTTE – Hahnville defensive lineman Lloyd Brimmer became the latest River Parishes player to commit to play college football this recruiting season, choosing Louisiana-Monroe last week. Brimmer selected Louisiana-Monroe over Southern Mississippi, Tulane and McNeese State. He has the core grades but his waiting on a test score. Brimmer, a two-year starter for Hahnville, helped lead the Tigers to a 11-1 record and the District 7-5A title in 2000. He was named first team all-district and honorable mention all-state in Class 5A after recording 11 sacks his senior year. “He’s a player like the NFL is looking for right now,” Hahnville head coach Lou Valdin said. “He’s a big, physical player inside who can stop the run and put pressure on the quarterback.” Brimmer is the third player from the River Parishes to commit this year. Hahnville quarterback Dawan Landry commited to Georgia Tech while Lutcher wide receiver Chris Johnson commited to Southern Miss. Louisiana-Monroe already has two players from the River Parishes on its roster – Destrehan’s Damian Richard and St. Charles Catholic’s Kenny Ordeneaux.
