THIBODAUX Nicholls State head football coach Daryl Daye announced the resignation of assistant football coach Tim Rebowe Thursday. A member of the Nicholls State staff since 1995, Rebowe will pursue a career in private business. “While we are sad to lose a coach of Tim’s caliber, we totally understand his commitment to his family,” Daye said. “By leaving the coaching profession, he will have more time to devote to his family.” Nicholls State’s wide receivers coach during the 2000 season, Rebowe spent five years working with the program’s defensive backs prior to his move to offense. During his time as defensive backfield coach, NSU ranked seventh nationally in pass defense amongst I-AA school in 1996. A graduate of Destrehan High School, the 1987 LSU graduate spent eight seasons at his high school alma mater, serving as head varsity football coach during his final three seasons. With Rebowe at the helm, Destrehan went a combined 26-11, including a 1993 appearance in the Class 5A state championship football game where they fell to West Monroe. In related news, Daye announced that former running backs Jeff Beckles will now coach the Colonel receivers and a national search for a running backs coach will commence immediately.
