Mt. Nebo Baptist Churchs 41st anniversary services
are at 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the church, located at 198 W. Second St. in LaPlace. The Rev. Sam Jones of True Light Baptist Church of Garyville will be the speaker of the 9:30 a.m service and the Rev. Freddie Allen of Second Mt. A benefit dinner for St. Peter spring pageantry
is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Dinners are $5 each and will consist of baked chicken, dirty rice, green beans and dessert. Single business orders will be accepted and delivery will be available for more than five lunches. A parenting workshop, “Children in the Middle,”
for adults in separating families to focus on co-parenting, stress management and communication is from 5-7 p.m. at the St. John County Agents Office in Edgard. This is session one of two two-hour classes. Session two takes place Jan. 23 from 5-7 p.m. Pre-registration is required, call 497-3260. Community Support Night, for St. Rose Primary, Albert Cammon and Destrehan High schools, takes place at the Charlestown Club House. Topics will include safety, discipline, testing and attendance. Refreshments and door prizes will be provided. Genealogical research takes place from 1:30-4 p.m. at the St. John the Baptist Parish Library in LaPlace. Low cost spay/neuter of cats and dogs
of qualifying St. Charles Parish residents takes place at the St. Charles Animal Shelter (across from Westbank Bridge Park). Qualifying pet owners should arrive by 8 a.m. with pets restrained on a leash or in a carrier. Pets should not have food or water after 10 p.m. the night before surgery. Pets will go home on the same day as surgery. Call the St. Charles Humane Society at 785-9136 for information on qualifications. A community meeting about cancer,
featuring prominent cancer researcher Dr. Jay Hunt, Ph.D., begins at 6:30 p.m. at Lutcher High School auditorium. Dr. Hunt will explain how every dollar donated to cancer research makes a difference and how his research may improve the quality of life. The St. Charles Historical Foundation general membership meeting
