ESJ, HHS, RA win in district

THIBODAUX – The East St. John Lady Cats kept up their string of dominant victories in District 7-5A with an 86-12 win at Thibodaux Tuesday night. The Lady Cats were coming off an 87-57 victory over Hahnville last Friday.
East St. John improved to 18-3 overall and 0-3 in district.
The Lady Cats had little trouble Tuesday, jumping out to a 30-1 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 55-9 lead at halftime. A 15-1 third quarter run made it 70-10 heading into the fourth.
Kinya Lennix and Danielle Stemley had 16 points apiece to lead East St. John. Kojovana Hamilton had 11 and Courtney Drayton and Lacrisha Walker nine apiece.
Hahnville 71, South Terrebonne 36
BOUTTE – Hahnville pulled away early to take a 71-36 victory over South Terrebonne in District 7-5A play Wednesday night.
Hahnville improved to 9-8 overall and 2-1 in district play with the win.
The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 17-8 first quarter lead and led 33-15 at the half. It was 50-28 heading into the fourth quarter.
Cashmir White had a game-high 22 points for Hahnville. Toyelle Rickson added 21 and Elizabeth Landry 11.
Riverside 64, Buras 13
RESERVE – Riverside held Buras to three second-half points in a 64-13 District 9-2A victory Wednesday night.
The win improved the Lady Rebels to 9-8 overall and evened their district record at 1-1. Buras fell to 0-2 in district.
Crystal Rome led all scorers with 18 points for Riverside. Amy Hymel added seven points and Candice Perret and Karen Cortez had six points apiece. Twelve Lady Rebels scored in the game.
Riverside led 16-5 at the end of the first quarter and 37-10 at the half. The Lady Rebels held the Lady Wildcats scoreless in the third quarter in taking a 51-10 lead.
Ridgewood 85, West St. John 44
METAIRIE – Ridgewood remained undefeated in District 9-2A play with an 85- 44 victory over West St. John Wednesday night.
Ridgewood improved to 3-0 in district and 21-3 overall. West St. John fell to 2-1 in District 9-2A and 6-7 on the season.
Ridgewood took a 20-4 first quarter lead and increased it to 43-19 at the break. A 24-15 third quarter run made it a 67-34 game.
Latoya Borne had 11 points for the Lady Rams. Taryn Pierce added nine points.
