AUGUST

BOUTTE – Clayton J. August, 52, a native of New Orleans, long-time formerresident of Hahnville and resident of Boutte, died Dec. 22. He was thehusband of Immel Butcher August and father of Ashley August.

He was also the son of the late Clay and Ethel Mae Gordon August, stepson of Joyce Byrd August and brother of Julie Bolden, Mary Williams, Deborah Madere, Charles Downing and Randall Donald, Bruce, Darcey and R.J. August.Services were Dec. 28 at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, Boutte, with interment atthe church cemetery.

BORDELON

CHALMETTE – Hilda Lemoine Bordelon, 73, a native of Lucy and resident of Chalmette for 36 years, died Dec. 22. She was the mother of Keith and LouisBordelon Jr. and stepmother of Mary Bordelon Day.She was also the sister of Grace Hymel, Rosalie Waguespack and Roland, Stephen, Earl and Ross Lemoine.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Services were Dec. 27 at St. Mark Catholic Church, Chalmette, withinterment at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.

BRACKIN

LAPLACE – Steven C. Brackin, 51, a native of Selma, Ala., resident of LaPlacefor 15 years and resident of Kenner, died Dec. 24. He was the husband ofMarlean Brackin and father of Stephanie Dates.

He was also the brother of Deloris McGee and Mary Ann Lawson.

Services were Dec. 29 at Providence Baptist Church No. 1, LaPlace, withinterment today at noon at Elmwood Cemetery, Selma.

BURL

GARYVILLE – Alan “PT” Burl Sr., 44, a native and resident of Garyville, diedDec. 25. He was the father of Roneika Butler and Alan Jr. and Ewlynn Burl.He was also the son of Albert Burl Sr. and the late Lizzie Mae Brown Burl andbrother of Linda Johnson, Lilac Rixner, Rainere London, Cherry Frank, Albert Burl and the late Mona Lisa Smith and Regina Burl.

He is also survived by two grandchildren.

Services were Dec. 29 at Greater New Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Garyville, withinterment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions.

CAILLOUET

DESTREHAN – George Robert Caillouet, 78, a native of Montz and resident of St. Rose for 56 years, died Dec. 28. He was the husband of the late LudivineGauthreaux Caillouet and father of Paulette Zeringue and Melanie Tramonte.

He was also the son of the late Paul and Edna Caillouet and brother of Russell Caillouet and the late Mathilda DeCarlo, Lena Revet, Margaret Trippi, Mildred Arabie, Annie Gautreaux, Pauline Arabie and Edith, Bertha and the late Ferdinand “Blackie” and Donald “Shorty” Caillouet.

He is also survived by two grandchildren.

Services were Dec. 29 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Destrehan,with interment at the church cemetery.

COLLINS

LUTCHER – Leroy Collins Jr., 69, a native of Paulina and resident of Lutcher,died Dec. 22. He was the father of Larry Davis.He was also the son of Leroy Collins Sr. and the late Ether McGee Collins. Heis also survived by four sisters, three brothers and two grandchildren.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at First Community Antioch Baptist Church,Lutcher, with interment at Antioch Cemetery, Paulina. Visitation starts at9:30 a.m.

JAMES

RESERVE – Geron “Cutt” James, 16, a native of Reserve and resident of LaPlace, died Dec. 21. He was the son of Ernest Jr. and Sylvia Bright-Jamesand brother of Garrett and Garland James.

He was also the grandchild of Gertrude Bright and the late Ernest James Sr.,Frank Jr. and Alma Linton and Victor Sr. and Dorothy Bright.Services are today at 11 a.m. at Greater New Plymouth Rock Baptist Church,Reserve, with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions. Visitation startsat 9 a.m.

JASMIN

VACHERIE – Willie “Twin” Jasmin, 84, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Dec. 23. He was the husband of Doretha Adams Jasmin and father of CarrieBorne, Brenda Dumas, Cheryl Williams and Jerome Adams.

He was also the brother of Almeria Heard, Geraldine White and August Jasmin.

He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services were Dec. 27 at First Baptist Church, Vacherie, with interment atSt. Philip Catholic Mausoleum, Vacherie.

KNIGHT

GARYVILLE – Henry B. “Pat” Knight, 78, a native of Wagner, Miss., andresident of Garyville and Reserve, died Dec. 21. He was the son of the lateBen and Alice Knight.

He was also the uncle of Rebecca Davis, Rosalie Clark, Booth Knight and Joseph, Willie Mae, Elnora, the Rev. James, Leon, Annette and Virginia Davis.Services are today at 11 a.m. at New Hopeful Baptist Church, Garyville, withinterment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.

NECAISE

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. – Leana “Joan” Strong Necaise, 59, a native of Bay St.Louis, Miss. and a long-time resident of Luling, died Dec. 23. She was the wifeof Robert Necaise and mother of Darnell Orcutt, Victoria Von-Aspern, Linda Falgoust, Amanda Maise and the late Robert Necaise Jr.

She was also the daughter of the late Ernest and Rena Holden Strong.

She is also survived by 10 grandchildren.

Services were Dec. 28 in the chapel of Edmond Fahey Funeral Home, Bay St.Louis, with interment at Bayou CoCo Cemetery, Kiln, Miss.

RICHARD

LEMANNVILLE – Dorothy F. Richard, 59, a native of St. James and resident ofDonaldsonville, died Dec. 27. She was the wife by first marriage of the lateJoseph Watson, by second marriage of the late Floyd Foster, by third marriage of the late Rosevelt Richard and mother of Lashaun Foster and the Rev. Stanley and Larry Watson.She was also the daughter of the late Alphonse and Viola Jones, stepdaughter of Asilee Jones and stepsister of Alice Denoux, Edna Franklin, Rose Nelson, Lucille Bell, Carolyn Wright and Linda, Michael, Charles, Sterling, Lloyd, Ronnee, Gary and Lawrence Jones.

She is also survived by three grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Buena Vista Baptist Church, Lemannville,with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

RUSSELL

LUTCHER – Royal Russell Sr., 72, a native and resident of Paulina, died Dec.25. He was the husband of Margaret Russell and father of Rosalind Williams,Claudia, the Rev. Donald, Randy, Danny, Carl, Darron and the late RoyalRussell Jr.

He was also the son of the late Ernest Sr. and Louvenia Davis Russell andbrother of Dorothy Kirklin, Henrietta, Ernest Sr. and Louis Sr. Russell and thelate Gloria Keller, Rosanna Dupard and Jeanetta, Dorthy, Velma, Mack and Raymond Russell.

He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services were Dec. 28 at First Community Antioch Baptist Church, Lutcher,with interment at the church cemetery.

SCHEXNAYDER

LAPLACE – Inez “Mitzie” Hosea Schexnayder, 74, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Dec. 27. She was the wife of the late Nolan Schexnayder andmother of Ann McKnight and Nolan and Lloyd Schexnayder.

She was also the daughter of the late Charles and Maria Hosea and sister of Almena Stayton and the late Thelma Elliott.

She is also survived by five grandchildren.

Services were Dec. 29 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, withinterment at St. John Memorial Gardens.

STEWART

VACHERIE – Benjamin Stewart Sr., 65, a native and resident of Vacherie, diedDec. 22. He was the husband of Doris Stewart and father of Arlene Williby,Demetrice Batiste, Anya Trench, Kareem, Askia, Tonta, Kavis, Nadia, Nashiya, Nikeia Octave and Gregory, Benjamin Jr., Michelle, Troy and DarrinStewart. He was also the companion of Nermia Jean Butler.He was also the son of Celestine Stewart and the late Morris Stewart and brother of Maudry Brown, Clementine Young, Evelena Sam, Vernia Mae Sheppherd, Irene Sims, Amelia Donald, Merita Williams and Betty and Enoch Stewart.

He is also survived by 29 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were Dec. 28 at First Baptist Church, Vacherie, with interment atthe church cemetery.

STIPE

KILLONA – Georgina J. “Hattie” Stipe, 65, a native and resident of Killona,died Dec. 21. She was the wife of the late Estmond Stipe Sr. and mother ofBarbara Lockett, Mercy Francois, Estmond Jr. and Kathy Stipe and the lateBobby Jean Mitchell.

She was also the daughter of the late Abraham and Pricilla Jackson and sister of Diana Williams, Ann Jupiter, Joanne White, Dorothy Washington, Bertha and Bertrand Jackson and the late Effie Baloney, Hilda Cummings, Pearl Raymond and Linda, Roosevelt and Peter Jackson.

She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She waspreceded in death by one grandchild.

Services were Dec. 29 at Canaan Baptist Church, Killona, with interment atGreen Hills Cemetery, Taft.

TORRES

LAPLACE – Hortense “Nenaine” Torres, 97, a native of Vacherie, former resident of Reserve and resident of Mandeville, died Dec. 27. She was thedaughter of the late James and Josephine Torres and sister of the late Fernand, Edmond, Ernest, Eddie and Netter Torres.

Services were Dec. 29 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, with intermentat the church cemetery.

VITRANO

HAHNVILLE – Joseph Anthony Vitrano, 75, a native of Birmingham, Ala., andresident of Luling, died Dec. 26. He was the husband of Dianna DempsterVitrano and stepfather of Victoria Jackson and Nyra Naquin.

He was also the son of the late Paul and Annie Spano Vitrano and brother of Paul Jr. and Nicholas Vitrano.He is also survived by two grandchildren.

Services were Dec. 28 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church,Hahnville, with interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Luling.
