Hymel leads St. James past Giants

ST. JAMES – Chris Hymel threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more tolead St. James to a 43-18 victory over Green Oaks in the Class #a bi-districtplayoffs Friday night.

St. James (6-4) advances to play Winnfield in the regionals Friday. Winnfield,seeded second, defeated Bunkie, 41-13, Friday. Green Oaks finished at 7-4.St. James had 507 yards in the game, 354 coming on the ground. TravellSteib led the way with 136 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. RalphaelJones completed 11-of-19 passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns.

St. James got on the scoreboard first on a 1-yard pass from Hymel to DavinDennis in the first quarter. Green Oaks pulled to within 7-6 on a 12-yard passfrom Jones to Jarrarcea Williams in the opening period.

The Wildcats began to pull away in the second quarter. Hymel got it startedwith a 1-yard run. He then connected with Dennis on an 80-yard touchdownstrike, making it 22-6.

It would be 29-6 in the third quarter as Hymel scored on another 1-yard run.

Jones came back with a 75-yard pass that was tipped by a defender to Carr.

But St. James answered with a 44-yard touchdown run by Steib in the fourthquarter. Seth Folse then scored on a 5-yard run to make it 43-12. TheGiants got the final score on a fumble recovery in the end zone by Roderick Bryant.
