LAPLACE – The St. John the Baptist Parish government wants to remind allresidents that all parish government offices will be closed Tuesday for Election Day and also on Friday, Nov. 10, in observance of Veterans Day.Government offices in St. Charles Parish will be open Tuesday and closedNov. 10, and government offices in St. James Parish will be closedTuesday and Nov. 10.Students in St. John Parish public schools will not have to go to school onTuesday, but teachers will still have to report for work.

St. Charles Parish public schoos will be closed on Election Day for bothstudents and teachers.

Because of the recent marsh fire that delayed school openings in the past week, the St. James Parish School Board will keep six schools open Nov. 7to make up for lost time. These schools are Gramercy Elementary, LutcherElementary, Lutcher High School, Lutcher Junior High, Paulina Elementary and The Learning Academy.

All other public schools in St. James Parish will be closed on Election Day.
