LAPLACE – The St. John the Baptist Parish Andouille Festival 2000 kicks offOct. 26-29 on the grounds of the Percy Hebert Building, 1801 W. AirlineHighway in LaPlace. A special Sneak Preview Night, featuring rides only, takesplace Oct. 26 from 6-9 p.m.Advance ticket sales for pay one price for rides for the festival are available beginning Oct. 1 at the Hibernia Bank, Belle Terre Blvd. location. Pay oneprice weekend tickets are $40 and daily pay one price tickets (with limited ride times) are $15.

Anyone interested in participating in the 5K run or two mile walk should contact Greg Maurin at 652-7085.

The festival schedule includes: Friday: 5:55 p.m. – opening ceremony 6 p.m. – festival opens 6-8 – music provided by D.J. 8- midnight – Mellow Hi Lite Band Midnight – festival closes Saturday: 10 a.m. – festival opens 10 a.m.-5 p.m. – dancing groups 5-8 p.m. – music provided by D.J. 8 p.m.-midnight – Take Five Band Midnight – festival closes Sunday: 8 a.m. – Andouille 5K and Two Mile Run 11 a.m. – festival opens 11 a.m.-3 p.m. – 4-H Cooking Contest, Council on Aging Building 11 a.m.-4 p.m. – 4-H project exhibits, State Farm tent 11-11:30 a.m. – tones of joy/Gospel 11:30-11:45 a.m.- music provided by D.J. 11:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m. – river of Life contemporary Gospel 12:15-12:45 p.m. – First Assembly of God gospel group 12:45-1 p.m. – music provided by D.J. 1-1:30 p.m. – Woodland Baptist Church choir 1:30-5 p.m. – music provided by D.J. 3:30 – 4-H Cooking Contest awards 5-9 – Bits and Pieces Band 9 p.m. – festival closesFor more information on the festival call 652-9569.
