Lutcher loses heartbreaker to Vandebilt Catholic

HOUMA – Vandebilt Catholic’s offensive woes continued but the Terriers’special teams were special enough to carry them to a 10-7 overtimevictory over Lutcher Friday night.
Vandebilt improved to 1-1 on the season while Lutcher fell to 1-1.
Vandebilt averaged only 11 points per game last season and finished withminus-one yard in offense Friday against the Bulldogs. The Terriers failedto gain a yard on 24 rushing attempts and completed 3-of-5 passes for ayard loss.
Lutcher had 97 yards on offense, rushing for 93 yards on 42 attempts.
Tyrone Martin led the way with 78 yards on 19 carries. Risley St. Germaincompleted 1-of-10 passes for four yards and an interception.
The Bulldogs broke a scoreless tie in the third quarter on William Adams1-yard run with 8:59 left. T.J. Bourgeois added the extra point to make it7-0. Vandebilt tied the game with 4:49 left in the quarter on Zac Koster’s5-yard return of a blocked punt.
The game would remain scoreless into overtime. The Bulldogs had a fieldgoal attempt blocked in the extra period. The Terriers then came back witha 27-yard field goal for the win.
