ARCENEAUX NEW ORLEANS – Melvin Arceneaux, 67, a native of St. James Parish andresident of New Orleans, died Aug. 22. He was the father of DeborahArceneaux and companion of Doris Ellis.

He was also the brother of Roosevelt and Willmond Arceneaux Jr.

He is also survived by three grandchildren.

Services were Aug. 28 at New Hope Baptist Church, New Orleans, withinterment at St. Rose Cemetery.

BREAUX PARADIS – Una Cavalier Breaux, 83, a native of Assumption Parish and resident of Paradis, died Aug. 27. She was the wife of the late Ulysse J.Breaux and mother of Therese Adams, Adeline Verda, Robert Breaux and the late Paul Breaux.

She was also the daughter of the late Frank and Euranie Rodrigue Cavalier and sister of Irene Aucoin, Isabel Lunk, Alice Garcia and Ulysse, Frank, Sterling, Albert, Alvin, Ivy and the late Herbert and Dave Cavalier.

She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Services were Aug. 29 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Paradis,with interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Luling.

CASHIO RESERVE – Mamie “Mica” DeMarco, 79, a native of Napoleonville and resident of Reserve for 75 years, died Aug. 27. She was the wife of thelate Nicholas Cashio Sr. and mother of Corliss Klibert, Mary Punch andNicholas Jr. and Darryl Cashio.She was also the daughter of the late Anthony Sr. and Virginia DeMarco andsister of Rosalie Zappula and Josie, Russell, Anthony Jr., Salvador andJoseph DeMarco and the late Stella Cortez.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services are Sept. 1 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, withinterment at the church cemetery. Visitation is 5-10 p.m. Thursday andfrom 8 a.m. on Friday.

DUFRENE DES ALLEMANDS – Josephine Boudreaux Cancienne Dufrene, 78, a native and resident of Des Allemands, died Aug. 27. She was the wife of the lateWillie Cancienne, by first marriage, and of Whitney Dufrene, by second marriage, and mother of Charles Cancienne, Brenda Naquin, Jackie Prejean, Jeanette Mouney, Mary Sirgo, Loretta Matherne, Betty Foret, Donald Dufrene and the late Ronnie Ann Dufrene.

She was also the daughter of the late Julius and Gertrude Champagne Boudreaux and sister of Pearl Kolbe and the late Shirlty Naquin.

She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

Services were Aug 29 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Des Allemands,with interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Luling.

FISHER LAPLACE – Allen Charles Fisher, 49, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Aug. 22. He was the husband of Rose Holmes Fisher, by first marriage, and Tammy August Fisher, by second marriage, and father of Joy and Sgt.

Charles Fisher, U.S.M.C.He was also the son of the late Edward Sr. and Evelyn S. Fisher and is alsosurvived by six brothers, three sisters and three stepchildren.

He is also survived by one grandchild.

Services were Aug. 28 at Providence Baptist Church No. 1, LaPlace, withinterment at Providence Rest Haven Cemetery, LaPlace.

LANDAICHE METAIRIE – Winnie Stephens Landaiche, 79, a native of Head of Island and resident of LaPlace for many years, died Aug. 25. She was the mother ofJean Garel and Carroll and Cornel Landaiche.

She was also the sister of Vivian Jones.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services were Aug. 28 in the chapel of Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp FuneralHome, Metairie, with interment at Garden of Memories.

MARTIN METAIRIE – Isabel Leaveau Martin, 94, a native of Lutcher and resident of Metairie, died Aug. 25. She was the wife of the late John B. Martin Sr. andmother of Joan Roche, Lynn Broussard, John B. Martin Jr. and the late MaryKnox.

She was also the daughter of the late Victor Leaveau and Mary Glaser and sister of the late Leonore Dufrechou, Lillian Bauer and Victory, Anna, Loretta, Norman and George Leaveau.

She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

She retired from the Orleans Parish School Board after 30 years.

Services were Aug. 28 in the chapel of Lake Lawn Funeral Home, Metairie,with interment at Lake Lawn Park Cemetery.

PANSANO ARABI – Merise Marie McDaniel Pansano, 68, a native of Ville Platte and resident of Luling for many years, died Aug. 22. She was the mother ofBarbara Ferguson, Monica Michel and Jimmie and Robert Begnaud.

She was also the sister of Everton McDaniel, Maria Stelly and the late Lorice Brown and Wilfred, Willis, Marshall and Reglie McDaniel.

She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services were Aug. 26 in the chapel of Dunn Funeral Home, Arabie.

SHIRK OKLAHOMA CITY – John B. “Jack” Shirk Jr., 60, a native of Oklahoma Cityand resident of LaPlace, died Aug. 22. He was the father of Kim, John andCharles Shirk.

He was a director of productions at Ernest N. Morial Memorial ConventionCenter.

Services were Aug. 27 at Church of the Savior, Oklahoma City, withinterment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Oklahoma City.

STIPE HAHNVILLE – Katherine “Cat” Stipe, 51, a native of New Orleans and lifelong resident of Killona, died Aug. 24. She was the wife of RaymondStipe and mother of Lori Ann Champagne and Lenyell and Lawrence Stipe.

She was also the daughter of Margurite Lay and the late Arthur Johnson and sister of Evelyn Davis, Carolyn Oubre, Patricia Ballansaw, Lucille Ducre and Theresa, Paul, Albert and Kevin Johnson.

She is also survived by four grandchildren.

She was employed by the St. Charles Parish Council as a custodian.Services are today at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Hahnville, withinterment at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Taft. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

VICKERS LULING – Carolan Salley Vickers, 63, a native of Augusta, Ga., and residentof St. Charles Parish for 35 years, died Aug. 27. She was the wife of HarryVickers Jr. and mother of Daniel Vickers and Leslie Sargent.She was also the sister of William Salley.

She is also survived by two grandchildren.

She was a former teacher at Boutte Christian Academy.

Memorial services are today at 10 a.m. at Luling United Methodist Church,with interment at Palmetto Cemetery, Brunswick, Ga.
