Shotgun-armed bandits invade, rob Boutte bar

BOUTTE – Two men armed with shotguns invaded the Carrot Top Lounge on Old Spanish Trail in Mozella early Monday and got away with $2,000, according to Lt. Pam Negrotto of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.As of press time, no arrests have been made.

The hooded robbers entered at 3:09 a.m., ordered everyone on the floor andmade off with the contents of the cash register. They also ransacked theplace in search of more money, even taking a customer’s drink payment off the bar.

After the robbery, a deputy trailed a suspicious vehicle in the area on U.S.Highway 90, driving erratically, but it put on a burst of speed and the passengers abandoned the vehicle near St. John and Primrose streetsbehind Mimosa Park Subdivision and fled into the darkness.
