LAPLACE – Two St. John Parish All-Star teams have advanced to the DizzyDean World Series.

Both the 8-year-old and 9-year-old All-Stars will be playing in the World Series scheduled for July 28 through Aug. 2 in Southhaven, Miss.The 8-year-olds played in the state tournament in Kenner earlier this month. St. John opened the tournament with a 14-4 victory over St.Bernard. The following day, Plaquemine defeated St. John, 7-4. St. Bernardcame back the next day to eliminate St. John, 9-4.The 9-year-olds played at Woodworth for the state tournament. In theopening round, Lakeview edged St. John, 8-5. St. Bernard then eliminatedthe All-Stars, 10-6.
