LAPLACE – The River Parish Hoyas 12-year-old basketball team will represent St. John Parish and the state of Louisiana in the YouthBasketball of America National Championship Tournament July 22-29 in Orlando, Fla.

The team will be competing against other teams from throughout the nation. The 11 players participating on the team are from LaPlace,Reserve, Garyville and Edgard. Last year the same team participated in the11-year-old AAU National Championship Tournament and finished in the top 27 of 87 teams. The goal this year is to bring a national title home toLouisiana and St. John Parish.The organization is asking businesses in St. John Parish to make the trippossible by making a donation.
