LAPLACE – St. Charles Catholic conducted its 48th commencement exercisesand graduation Mass May 19 in the school’s gymnasium.

The graduating class of 2000 consisted of 119 students, 65 percent of which earned over $1.7 million in scholarships and awards to continue theireducation.

The 2000 valedictorian was Jared Michael Lorio. Lorio is the son of Mr. andMrs. Gregory Lorio of LaPlace. He will attend Tulane University next fall andmajor in engineering.

The salutatorian of the Class of 2000 was Melissa Anne Tregre. Tregre isthe daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Tregre of LaPlace. She will continue hereducation in accounting and finance at Louisiana State University in the fall semester of 2000.

The remaining eight members of this year’s top 10 graduates are Mihran Vatche Naljayan, Tricia Marie Louque, Carrie Lynn Stein, Rachel Lynn Vicknair, Kate Corinne Abreo, James Edward Cupit, Jennifer Lynn Crose and Cristin Joan Clement.
