RESERVE – Riverside Academy graduated its Class of 2000 May 19 on the school’s football field.

Katie Ann Hymel was valedictorian, and Blake Joseph Luminais was salutatorian.

Hymel, daughter of Ann and Herbert Hymel of Garyville, plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to obtain a degree in dietetics. Shereceived a scholarship from UL-Lafayette as well offers from Louisiana Tech and Northwestern Louisiana University.

Hymel, a TOPS scholar, recently placed first in general business at the District Literary Rally. During her senior year Hymel received numeroushonors, including Outstanding Member of the Southern Sweethearts, Homecoming Queen and RA Sweetheart 2000 and her classmates chose her as Miss Senior, Most Likely to Succeed and Most Attractive.

Luminais, son of Etta and Brad Luminais of LaPlace, plans to attend Louisiana State University in the fall and major in electrical engineering. During hissenior year at Riverside the TOPS graduate was a Boys’ State delegate, an Academic All-State Composite team selection for football and an active member of the Student Council as a senior representative.

Honor graduates were Katie Hymel, Blake Luminais, Brandi Falgoust, Lindsey Cox, Joseph Trosclair, Ashley Weber, Crystal Bonura, Jennifer Guidry and Jill Scioneaux.
