St. James man robbed, beaten

RESERVE – The St. John Sheriff’s Office is asking for help in solving aaggravated robbery that left a St. James Parish man in critical condition.On Sunday night, deputies received a call that at first they thought was an automobile accident.

However, when deputies arrived on the scene on E. 20th St. in Reserve, theyfound an unconscious man lying in the road next to his truck, bleeding from a wound to the head.

Capt. Mike Tregre of the St. John Sheriff’s Office said that they believerobbery was a motive for the attack.

“When we found him, his pockets were turned out,” reported Tregre.

The 37-year-old victim from St. James Parish was taken to River ParishesHospital, then transferred to Charity Hospital in New Orleans where he is listed in critical condition.

Tregre said, “The victim suffered a severe blow to the head from a blunt object.”Police are not releasing the name of the victim at the present time.

Police are asking anybody with any information about this robbery and attack to call the sheriff’s office at 652-9513.
