Berthelot places 14th at state

BATON ROUGE – Hahnville’s Dana Berthelot shot a 101 to tie for 14th at the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s Gurls’ State Golf Tournament held Tuesday at the LSU Golf Course.

The tournament was shortened to 18 holes because of inclement weather Monday.

Berthelot shot a 43-58 on a day that heavy winds hit the course. Shefinished in a tie with Leesville’s Stephanie Hudgens and West Monroe’s Jamie Roberts. Teammate Kristen Byrd shot a 119. The Lady Tigers finished with acombined score of 220 to place 12th in the tournament.

Byrd’s Hillary Duncan shot a 36-43-79 to win the individual title by seven strokes over St. Joseph’s Ashley Thompson. Duncan’s front nine of 36 wasthe best score of the day. University’s Rebecca Struthers was third with an87, followed by Redemptorist’s Katie Kane and Mount Carmel’s Lacey Panepinto with 88s.

St. Joseph’s won the team title with a 181. West Monroe was second with a192, followed by Mount Carmel (198), University (200) and Captain Shreve (202).
