Garyville/Mt. Airy holding first carnival ball tonight

GARYVILLE – The Drama Club of Garyville/Mt. Airy Math and Science MagnetSchool will host its first carnival ball from 7-10 tonight in the school cafetorium.

The queen and her court will be presented at this gala event, which has the theme “Mardi Gras 2000.” Sixth-grader Rachel Mitchell of Edgard will reign as queen. She will beescorted by sixth-grader Keefe Condoll of LaPlace.

First maid is seventh-grader Nadia Kendrick of LaPlace. Her escort will beeighth-grader Jerard Brown of LaPlace.

The court’s second maid is fifth-grader Melisha Taylor of LaPlace. He escortis eighth-grader Kalen Collins of Reserve.

The court will also be embellished by two attendants, Shelia Weston and Dominique Weber, both of Garyville. Weston, a sixth-grader, will be escortedby Kuan Mitchell of Mt. Airy. Weber, a seventh-grader, will be escorted bysixth-grader Rondell Jasper of Reserve.

This event is the Drama Club’s major fund-raiser for the year.

The club’s sponsor, Gwenesta Fenroy, contends the evening promises to be a spectacular affair full of gaiety and entertainment.

Attire for the evening is semi-formal.

Tickets are $4 each for children and $5 for adults.
