CONEY METAIRIE – Georgia Phipps Coney, 78, a native of West Liberty, Ky., andresident of Ama for 40 years, died Feb. 8. She was the wife of Roy P. Coney,mother of Melinda Salinas, Ray Coney and Joseph Ritter and step-mother of Cheryl Arnold and the late Denise Rousselle.

She was also the daughter of the late Fred and Mary Turner Phipps and sister of Fred, Gene and the late Bessie, Garland and Harry Phipps.

She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 11 at Crescent City Baptist Church, Metairie, withinterment at St. Charles Cemetery, Luling.

DAVIS GARYVILLE – Moreisha Alexander Davis, 5, a native and resident of Mt. Airy,died Feb. 6 of a ruptured artery. She was the daughter of Morris Smith andVirginia Davis and sister of Ieisha, Malik and Rashawn-g Davis.

She was also the grandchild of Rebecca Davis, Sonny Weber and Frank and Elinor Wright.

Services were held Feb. 11 at True Light Baptist Church, Garyville, withinterment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions.

McCRAY RIVER RIDGE – Michael “D.J.” “Big Mike” McCray Sr., 25, a native and residentof St. Rose, died Feb. 3 of congestive heart failure. He was the father ofMekala White and Michael McCray Jr.

He was also the son of Johnny and Bobbie McCray and brother of Barbara Ann Tyler and Jayna and Derrick McCray.

Services were held Feb. 11 in the chapel of Richardson Funeral Home, RiverRidge, with interment at Providence Memorial Park.

MATHERNE DES ALLEMANDS – Alice Danos Matherne, 74, a native and resident of Des Allemands, died Feb. 10. She was the wife of Lester Matherne and mother ofAudie and Catherine Matherne.

She was also the daughter of the late Junius Sr. and Lena Cortez Danos andsister of Thelma “Sue” Champagne, Fannie Tregre, Patricia Cortez and Earl, the late Junius Jr. and Anthony Danos.She is also survived by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services are today at 11:30 a.m. at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, DesAllemands, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9a.m.

MITCHELL KILLONA – Bobbie “Nanut” Stipe Mitchell, 46, a native and resident of Killona, died Feb. 7. She was the mother of Lischelle Brown and Latasha and SidneyMitchell.

She was also the daughter of Georgiana Stipe and the late Estmond Stipe and sister of Mercy Francois, Barbara Lockett and Kathy and Estmond Stipe Jr.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Canaan Baptist Church, Killona, withinterment at Greenhille Cemetery, Taft. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.

MORRIS EDGARD – Roland “Pop” Morris, 69, a native and resident of Edgard, died Feb.

8. He was the husband of Margaret Morris and father of JoAnn Bailey andDenise, Roland Jr. and Kerry Morris.He was also the son of the late Oliver and Suzanne LaRose Morris and brother of the late Walter, Earl, Oliver Jr., Melvin and Clifton Morris.He is also survived by 19 grandchildren.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church,Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

TYLER LUTCHER – Dorothy Warren “Dot” Tyler, 63, a native of Laurel, Miss., andresident of Lutcher, died Feb. 4. She was the wife of Alvin Tyler and motherof Madrina Jones, Nancy Duhone and Thaddeus Tyler.

She was also the daughter of the late Readas and Roberta Warren and sister of Delores McCullen, Catherine Simms and Joyce Warren.

She is also survived by five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by onegrandchild.

Services were held Feb. 10 at United Methodist Church, Lutcher Chapel, withinterment at Golden Wreath Cemetery.
