New Sarpy teen shot; assailants get away

NEW SARPY – A 16-year-old New Sarpy boy was chased and shot in the forearm, but police are hopeful of catching those responsible.

Lt. Dwayne LaGrange said a witness in the neighborhood spotted severalblack men chasing the youth in the area of Van’s Lane and Ninth Street on Tuesday at 12:50 p.m.Minutes later, the witness saw the attackers flee in a black Oldsmobile Cutlass, then spotted the victim coming out of a wooded area with a jacket wrapped around his bleeding right forearm.

The boy was taken to St. Charles Parish Hospital in Luling, where hissingle gunshot wound was treated and he was released.

The victim gave police no indication as to what sparked the incident.

LaGrange said, “He didn’t know them and didn’t know why they were chasing him.”Anyone with further information is urged to call Detective Walter Fonseca at 443-0334 or 783-6807.
