Clements gets first victory

LAPLACE – LaPlace’s Lance Clements got his first Ultimate Fighting victory Tuesday night at Omega’s in Gretna, forcing Jeremy “Snapper” Willard of Mississippi to submit at the 35 second mark of the fight.

The victory evened Clements record at 1-1.

Clements opened the fight by getting Willard in a double-legged takedown and slinging him to the mat. Willard recovered to get Clements in aheadlock but left his ribs exposed. Clements took advantage, throwing aflurry of punches to Willard’s ribs to get out of the hold.

Clements then tried a chokehold that Willard slipped out of by dropping his shoulder. Clements tumbled over him and was able to get his legs aroundWillard’s neck, applying a guillotine move. Willard then had to submit orrisk falling unconcious.

After the match, Clements challenged the fighter who had beaten him last month, Mike Kennedy to a rematch which Kennedy said he will consider. Ifthat rematch does not coem off, Clements will take on Willard in a rematch. Either fight will be held at Nocello’s in Metairie Jan. 28.
