AUGUST EDGARD – Raymond August, 78, a native of Lucy and resident of Hahnville, died Dec. 18. He was the husband of the late Augustine Scott August, thefather of Mary, Violet, Shirley, Viola, Valerie and Louise Stone, Barry Scott and the late Joe Scott and step-father of Selena Lattimore and Roy and Juniors Scott.

He was also the son of the late Joseph and Alma August and brother of Harry and Cashmere August and the late Ferlow, Edward and Claude August.

He is also survived by 34 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church,Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

BABIN PAULINA – Susan Marie Babin, 51, a native and resident of Paulina, died Dec. 19. She was the daughter of the late Leonce and Coralie Babin andsister of William, Norman, Lynwood, Louis and Julius Babin and the late Louise Keller and Leonce Jr., Roland and J.D. Babin.Services are today at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina, withinterment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

BOUDREAUX MT. AIRY – Nellie Kennard “Miss Plute” Boudreaux, 83, a native of Mt. Airyand resident of Gramercy, died Dec. 17. She was the wife of the lateWesley Boudreaux Sr. and mother of Lula Griffin, Dotsie Mae Jackson, MaryLouise Clark, Valerie Batiste, Rudolph Schofield, Leslie, Lawrence, Ronald and Wesley Boudreaux Jr. and the late Ernestine Boudreaux and Leo, Donaldand Percy Boudreaux.

She was also the daughter of the late Joseph and Ernestine Mitchell Kennard and sister of the late Justina Martin, Alma Butler, Octavia Butler, Earl Butler and Shirley, Kelly, Raymond, Willie and Sydney Kennard.

She is also survived by 45 grandchildren and numerous great- grandchildren.

Services were held Dec. 21 at St. Mark Baptist Church, Mt. Airy, withinterment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Paulina.

BURKE EDGARD – Elizabeth “Barbette” Armant Burke, 92, a native of Vacherie and resident of Edgard, died Dec. 13. She was the wife of the late Joseph Burkeand mother of Alice Hall and Florence and Randolph Burke.

She was also the sister of the late Nora Adams, Anita Abram, Camille Florent Sr., Justina Domino, Liska Jones and Corita and Joseph Armant.She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Dec. 21 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard,with interment at the church cemetery.

DEEM NEW ORLEANS – Betty Williams Deem, 74, a native of Reserve and resident of Marrero for 52 years, died Dec. 18. She was the wife of Howard Deemand mother of Karen Sharp.

She was also the daughter of the late Athanas Sr. and Bertha MausWilliams and sister of Mary Helen Schiro and Athanas Jr., Earl and JamesWilliams.

She is also survived by six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel of Jacob Schoen and SonFuneral Home, New Orleans, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery,Reserve. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

DeGROFF GRAMERCY – May Millet DeGroff, 81, a native of Lutcher and resident of Gramercy, died Dec. 18. She was the wife of Robert DeGroff and mother ofKathleen Guidry.

She was also the daughter of the late Amelus Sr. and Jeanne B. Millet andsister of Florette Boudreaux, Dan and Perry Millet and the late Jessica Bourgeois and Bourgeois “Bush” and Buddy Millet.

She is also survived by three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was a teacher of religious education at Sacred Heart School, retired from Colonial Sugar and formerly served as Deputy Clerk of Court in St.

James Parish.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gramercy,with interment at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Paulina. Visitation starts at 9a.m.

EUGENE LAPLACE – Irma Eugene, 79, a native of Sellers and resident of Montz, died Dec. 14. She was the mother of Barbara Dunn, Julia Taylor, Alice Thomasand Joseph Sr., Robert, Jerome Jr. and Wilton Eugene.She was also the sister of Melvin Marshall.

She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held Dec. 18 at New Vision Missionary Baptist Church,LaPlace, with interment at Montz Memorial Cemetery.

FORSYTH CHALMETTE – Archibald F. Forsyth Sr., 76, a native of Vacherie andresident of Arabi for 40 years, died Dec. 17. He was the husband of HelenFlad Forsyth and father of Kenneth, David, Keith and Archibald Forsyth Jr.

He was also the son of the late Frank Sr. and Olga Roussel Forsyth andbrother of Isabel Peterson and Frank Forsyth Jr.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren.

Services were held Dec. 21 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Chalmette,with interment at St. Bernard Memorial Cemetery.

STEWART LUTCHER – Raymond “Joe” Stewart, 64, a native and resident of Lutcher, died Dec. 15. He was the father of Pamela Williams, Ramona Hill, StanleyCooks and Gregory Stewart.

He was also the son of the late Eddie and Aldonia Luke Stewart and brother of Velma Lee, Ethel Jackson, Alice Alexis, Gloria Davis, Willie Mae Taylor, Geneva Long, Eddie and Milton Stewart and the late Dorothy Knight, Eura Lee Porter and Melvin Stewart.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren.

Services were held Dec. 20 at King Solomon Baptist Church, Lutcher, withinterment at Golden Wreath Cemetery, Lutcher.
