Deputies searching for E-Z Serve robber

LAPLACE – The St. John Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who robbed anE-Z Serve store on Nov. 17.According to authorities, the suspect entered the store at 901 E. AirlineHighway around 1:30 a.m. He purchased a pack of gum then demanded thecashier empty the cash register. He also told her to raise the cash drawerand give him the large bills underneath.

The cashier obeyed, and the suspect left the store with $70 in cash. Thecashier said the suspect fled in the direction of the River Forest subdivision, however a concentrated search by deputies and K-9 units failed to find the robber.

The manager of the E-Z Serve handed over a surveillance video tape to deputies, and even though no positive identification was possible the Sheriff’s Office said it is looking for a black male, about 6 feet to 6-2, between 225 and 240 pounds. He was wearing a black stocking cap, awhite long-sleeved sweater shirt, blue or black jeans and black-and- white tennis shoes. He was clean shaven and appeared to be between 35 to38 years old.
