DEAR EDITOR: A real bad job after waiting 40 years.
Everyone I have spoken to agree with me that the asphalt overlay on U.S. Highway 61 (Airline Highway) in St. Charles Parish is a very bad job. Certainly, the River Parishes deserve better than this. Hopefully, any bad areas will be patched before the job is finished. I noticed five patches already. To patch all of the bad areas will amount to a lot of money. The area behind New Sarpy and Ormond Boulevard hold a lot of water. This should not be when it rains.
The overlay job on most areas of the road is very poor. The approaches to the Spillway on the east and west sides were also poorly done.
