LAPLACE – Narcotics detectives capped a five-month investigation and swept up 28 people, including one juvenile, in “Operation Trick or Treat.”The investigation targeted what St. John the Baptist Sheriff Wayne L.Jones called repeat offenders. Narcotics commander Octavio Gonzalezcredited citizens’ complaints in alerting police as to the presence of street-level dealing in the Pine Street area of LaPlace and the East 27th Street area of Reserve, areas targeted in this probe.

“We’re just trying to minimize the visibility of these drug dealers on the corners,” Gonzalez said. “As long as the community is asking for our help,we’re going to respond.”Undercover buys helped set up the warrants for those arrested Wednesday and Thursday.
