Johnson has 222 yards receiving in Bulldogs’ win

THIBODAUX – Kenneth Johnson caught six passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns to help Lutcher to a 38-14 victory at E.D. White Friday night.Lutcher improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in District 9-3A. E.D. White fellto 5-2 overall and 0-1 in district.
Johnson got the Bulldogs on the scoreboard first, taking in a 57-yard scoring strike from Thomas Ricks. T.J. Bourgeois added the extra point tomake it 7-0 with 9:14 left in the first quarter.
E.D. White tied the game at 7 on a 1-yard touchdown run and JoshZeringue’s extra point at the 7:48 mark of the quarter. Lutcher came backwith a 10-yard run by William Adams. Bourgeois’ point after gave theBulldogs a 14-7 lead with 4:31 left in the first.
Johnson would combine with Ricks again on a 57-yard pass play before the quarter was out. Bourgeois made it 21-7 with 2:30 left. Bourgeois added a20-yard field with three seconds left in the half to increase the lead to 24-7 at halftime.
Jerron Wishom made it 31-7 in the third quarter on a 23-yard pass from Ricks with 2:52 left with Bourgeois adding the extra point. The Lutcherdefense then got into the act as Bernard Riley returned a fumble 58 yards for a touchdown. Bourgeois’ extra point made it 38-7 with 11:40 left inthe game.
E.D. White scored with nine seconds in the game on a 26-yard pass fromEvan Matherne to Corey Picou.
Ricks finished with 13 completions in 20 attempts for 344 yards and three touchdowns. Damian Ursin led the rushing attack with 16 carries for87 yards. The Bulldogs finished with 485 yards in total offense. E.D. Whitehad 233 yards in offense with 133 coming on the ground. The Cardinalsfumbled twice and had an interception.
Lutcher hosts Covington next Friday.
