BETHANCOURT
WALLACE – Norman Chaser Bethancourt Sr., 68, a native and resident ofWallace, died Aug. 8. He was the husband by first marriage of EvelynChopin and by second marriage of Audrey Marshall Bethancourt, father of Cynteia, Jessie and Guindella Joseph, Avis Pickens and Norman Jr., Brianand Telly Bethancourt and step-father of Yolanda Arceneaux, Shirley Joseph and Joseph and Donald Davis.
He was also the brother of Juanita Williams, Estelle Irving, Therold, Felmon and Dennis Bethancourt and the late Daniel Bethancourt.
He is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services were held Aug. 13 at Greater Woodville Baptist Church, Wallace,with interment at the church cemetery.
BRIGHT
ST. JAMES – Elaine C. “Too-Nu” Bright, 38, a native and resident ofVacherie, died Aug. 9. She was the mother of Ricky, Layman, Antoinetteand Daisy Bright.
She was also the daughter of Alice M. Bright and sister of Stella LeBlanc,Cathleen Isom and Louise, Joyce and Angela Bright.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Luke Baptist Church, St. James, withinterment at the church cemetery. Visitation begins at 9 a.m.
CAMBRE
RESERVE – James A. Cambre III, 60, a native and resident of Reserve, diedAug. 9. He was the husband of Mary Lee Miller Cambre and father of JamesA. “Andy” Cambre IV.He was also the son of the late James Jr. and Una Montz Cambre andbrother of Kendall Cambre.
He is also survived by two grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 11 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, withinterment at the church cemetery.
COOPER
NORCO – Maggie Sampson Cooper, 90, a native and resident of Norco, died Aug. 8. She was the wife of the late Charlie Cooper and mother of AudreyEdwards Eugene.
She was also the daughter of the late Essex and Bernetta Sampson and sister of the late Genetta Turley, Beulah Scott, Rose Smith and Henry Sampson.
She is also survived by six grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 13 at Greater Good Hope Baptist Church, Norco,with interment at Montz Memorial Cemetery.
DAVIS
LAPLACE – Sidney “Sero” Davis, 93, a native and resident of Lions, died Aug. 5. He was the husband of the late Mary A. Davis and father of GaynellHarris.
He was also the son of the late George and Cecile Norbert Davis and brother of Albertha Clay and the late Lawrence Isaac and Rose Jackson.
He is also survived by two grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Milesville Memorial Church of God,LaPlace, with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions.
DUMAS
NEW ORLEANS – Edna Helen Edwards Dumas, 88, a native of Moonshine and a resident of New Orleans for more than 75 years, died Aug. 7. She was themother of Andryetta W. Yarbrough.She was also the daughter of the late Rev. Ed and Rosetta Edwards andsister of Rosanna Marshall and the late Hattie Anderson, Beulah Porter, Alma Smith and Milton, Jules and Philmon Edwards.
She is also survived by three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was a retired teacher from the New Orleans Public School System.
Memorial services were held Aug. 12 at Tulane Memorial Baptist Church,New Orleans.
FORSYTH
PAULINA – Ruth Martin Forsyth, 70, a native and resident of Paulina, died Aug. 11. She was the wife of the late Brooks Forsyth Jr. and mother ofCharlene Leblanc, Gwen Bedell, Arlene Laiche and Chris, Calvin, Lionel and Larry Forsyth.
She was also the sister of May Poche, Theresa M. Roussel and Jerrel Martinand was preceded in death by five brothers.
She is also survived by 14 grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 13 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina, withinterment at the church mausoleum.
HALL
RESERVE – Vivian A. Hall, 93, a native and longtime resident of Reserveand a resident of New Orleans, died Aug. 11. She was the wife of EdwardHall and mother of Sr. Cornelia Hall, Esma Brougham, Reah Bernard and thelate Edsel Hall.
She was also the daughter of the late Felix and Mary Alexander and was preceded in death by six sisters and seven brothers.
She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church,Reserve, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9a.m.
LACOSTE
ALGIERS – Hubertine Marie Schexnayder Lacoste, 83, a native of St. JamesParish and a resident of Algiers, died Aug. 10. She was the wife of the lateRoger P. Lacoste and mother of Joyce Lake, Yvonne Guiang, Brenda Cavalier,Linda Bauer, Marie Loup and Roger J. Lacoste.She was also the daughter of the late Hubert Schexnayder and Antoinette Granier Schexnayder Hebert and sister of Claire Helmstetter and the late Georgia Hibben and Mack and Melvin Schexnayder.
She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 13 in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, Algiers,with interment at Bartholomew Cemetery.
PELOT
METAIRIE – Lisa Alonzo Pelot, 35, a native of New Orleans and a resident of St. Rose for seven years, died Aug. 11. She was the wife of Ben Pelot IV,mother of Kristi Alonzo, Dillon and Kayla Pelot and step-mother of Ben and Ryan Pelot.
She was also the daughter of George and Lillian Alonzo and sister of George Alonzo.
Services are today at 10:30 a.m. at St. Catherine of Seina Catholic Church,Metairie, with interment at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Metairie.
PHILLIPS
RIVER RIDGE – Bryan Keith Phillips, 37, a native of New Orleans and resident of LaPlace for 16 years, died Aug. 7. He was the father ofChristina Harris and step-father of Jennifer Simmons.
He was also the son of Charles Phillips and Thelma Mitchell and brother of Pamela Morris, Temple Calcote and Natalie and Stephen Phillips.
He is also survived by three grandchildren.
Visitation was held Aug. 13 in the chapel of Richardson Funeral Home,River Ridge. Private burial services followed.
ROSS
GRAMERCY – Rebecca Beulah Ross, 54, a native of Paulina and a resident of New Orleans for 49 years, died Aug. 7. She was the mother of Justin Lee.She was also the daughter of the late Beulah Barney and Albert Ross and step-daughter of Olevia Ross.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at New Zion Full Gospel Baptist Church,Gramercy, with interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Paulina. Visitationstarts at 9 a.m.
RUIZ
RESERVE – Clarence “Hickey” Ruiz, 66, a native and resident of Reserve, died Aug. 12. He was the husband of Myrza Roussel Ruiz and father of TrudyGiardina and Todd Ruiz.
He was also the son of Elmo “Lasauce” and the late Lavinia Cortez Ruiz and brother of Rosemary Deslatte, Fay Richard and Junior Ruiz.
He is also survived by five grandchildren.
Services are today at noon at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, withinterment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
TROSCLAIR
RESERVE – Emma Guerret Trosclair, 89, a native and resident of Reserve, died Aug. 11. She was the wife of the late Fred “Chackbay” Trosclair Sr.and mother of Leda Mae Steib, Annie Scioneaux and Eldon, Adam, Fred Jr. and James Trosclair.
She was also the sister of the late Odette Keller.
She is also survived by 31 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 13 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, withinterment at the church cemetery.
