Lutcher’s Weber starting for All-Stars

BATON ROUGE – Lutcher’s Jenee’ Weber was recently selected to play in the Louisiana High School Coaches Association All-Star Softball doubleheader scheduled for today.

The games will be played at Port Barre High School beginning at 11 a.m.Weber will start in the outfield for the East squad. The senior helpedLutcher advance to the state tournament this past season where the Lady Bulldogs went to the semifinals before falling to Kaplan.

Weber, an all-District 10-3A selection, batted .370 while leading off forthe Lady Bulldogs.

Weber, who recently signed with Southeastern Louisiana University to play softball, said she found out she made the all-star team two weeks ago.

“I was really surprised,” Weber said. “I wasn’t really expecting it. I’mreally happy.”Joining Weber in the East outfield are Linville’s Hannah Delhommer and Tioga’s Kelly Wright. The pitchers are St. Amant’s Jessica Holaway andFrench Settlement’s Duffi Matherne. Behind the plate are FrenchSettlement’s Kim Thornton and West Monroe’s Deni Zeigler. The infieldwill be Grant’s Jessica Findlay at first, Ruston’s Hilary Hay at second, St.

Amant’s Jenny Haydel at third and West Ouachita’s Candice Waggoner at short.

Central’s Julie Weise will be the utility infielder and Alexandria’s Callie Simms the utility outfielders. Other utility players are OuachitaChristian’s Brienne Berry, John Curtis’ Samantha Black, Bernice’s Abbra Mack, Crowville’s Ragen Russell and Central’s Tracye Thompson.

The East squad will be coached by French Settlement’s Richard Cherry and St. Amant’s Jay Benoit. The coordinator will be St. Joseph’s DorindaBeaumont.

Pitching for the West squad will be Central Lafourche’s Kayci Keller and Sacred Heart’s (VP) Mandy Mullins. Catching will be Sulphur’s LeslieVenissat and Carencro’s Crystal Stevens. In the infield are TeurlingsCatholic’s Stacie Dufour at first, Southwood’s Danielle McRae at second, Parkway’s Joanna Crowson at third and Berwick’s Sammi Wilkes at short.

The outfield will be Ascension Catholic’s Mitzi Hahn, Berwick’s Michelle Adams and Barbe’s Rikki Fontenot. Sherri Duplechain of Port Barre will bethe utility infielder and Vandebilt Catholic’s Shelly Holubec the utility outfielder.

Other utility players are Southwood’s Lacy Remedies, Anacoco’s Robyn Haymon, Stanley’s Courtney David, Sulphur’s Jaime Peveto and South Beauregard’s Jada Goins.

The West squad will be coached by Berwick’s Lloyd Burchfield and Southwood’s Greg Frazier. Eunice’s Scott Deshotel will serve as thecoordinator.
