The following is a letter in response to the Memorial Day prayer breakfast held at the Holiday Inn on May 28, hosted by Get High On Life.

“Dear Mr. Keller,I just wanted to thank you for inviting me to come to the Memorial Day celebration at the Holiday Inn Friday morning. As you know, Stephanie andI have been extremely busy visiting relatives and friends since we’re only here for a short time. I thank God you strongly encouraged me to take thetime to come, as it was well worth it.

As you recognized those who had lost a brother in World War II, I realized how easy it is to forget the sacrifice of those heroes. As you recognizedthose men who had received a Purple Heart and, as they proudly stood up, it gave me a new sense of urgency for our nation. Then, as those who wonthe Silver Star and Bronze Star stood proudly, I was challenged afresh to do my small part as a pastor.

Thank you for taking the time to honor the real heroes who live in relative obscurity among us. Thank you for shining the spotlight on those heroeswho really gave of themselves and not like our athletic heroes who seem to take rather than give. May their example of sacrifice be a livingtestimony to us all! Psalms 144:15 declares: “Happy are the people whose God is the Lord!” May God use you to bring this nation back to Him.

Sincerely, Mike Boudreaux, pastor 1104 Morrison Drive Excelsior Springs, Mo. 64024″

The breakfast was well-attended and everyone left with a deep feeling of gratitude to the many who have sacrificed to protect our freedom.

My special thanks to Father Louis “Doc” Poche, Dr. Roy Carubba, andHerman Lemoine, for providing the music, and also to Dianna Duffy, for blessing us with her singing of the National Anthem and “America the Beautiful.”All of this would not have been possible without the sponsors who financed the function. From all of us, we sincerely thank the following fortheir unselfish contribution: Emile Bergeron, John Braun, Fred DeFrancesch Jr., Duaine Duffy, Chris Eichhorn, Bill Hubbard, Sheriff Wayne L. Jones,Steve Lee, Bob Levin, Danny Louque, Jeff Montz, Steve Nosacka, Mike Paterno, Jeff Perilloux, Calvin Rousse, Dr. S.J. “Billy” St. Martin andRanney Wilson.
