LaPlace’s Rome selected to play for Kenner Angels

KENNER – For the fourth straight year, Crystal Rome of LaPlace has been selected to play for the Kenner Angels AAU basketball team.

Rome recently completed her first season playing for Riverside Academy.

The eighth-grader was named to the all-District 9-2A and all-River Parishes teams after averaging 12 points, three assists and three steals a game.

The Angels are one of the premier teams in the AAU program, having won the Louisiana state championship three out of the last four years.

The Angels also won Basketball Congress Inter-national championships in 1996 and 1997.

This year, the Angels will have a new coach, Allen Frye. The Angels begincompeting in tournaments the first week in May and will compete in tournaments throughout the region. The state tournament will be held thisyear in Baton Rouge in June.
