The St. Charles Catholic Athletic Association is holding a monthly$1,000 raffle. Only 100 tickets will be sold each month at a cost of $20per ticket. Drawings are to be held on the 28th of each month. For ticketinformation call coach Don Fernandez at St. Charles Catholic at 652-3029.

The New Orleans Soccer Association, in conjunction with the Louisiana Soccer Association, will host a youth module level coaching certification course for under 12 coaches Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3:30p.m. at the Pope’s Altar on the UNO campus. The course is open to all coaches and is $25 for coaches affiliated to the state association and $35 for those non-affiliated.

The New Orleans Soccer Academy, in conjunction with the Louisiana Soccer Association, will host a “D” level coaching certification course for under 15, under 16 and under 17 coaches Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m.to 6 p.m. at the N.O.S.A. Club house and fields in New Orleans.The course is open to all coaches, although some prerequisites do apply.

The cost is $75 for coaches affiliated to the state association and $85 for those non-affiliated.

The Blind River Boss Gobblers of the National Wild Turkey Federation will host their first annual banquet today at 6 p.m. at the GonzalesRecreation Center on Irma Boulevard in Gonzales.

The National Wild Turkey Federation supports scientific wildlife management on public, private and corporate lands. It also supportstraditional American sport hunting and every citizen’s right to enjoy clean air and water as well as a pleasing outdoor environment.

The national non-profit education conservation organization was organized in 1973 by persons wanting to lead the way in managing and restoring the wild turkey and other wildlife resources.

The Federation has over 180,000 members in 50 states and 11 foreign countries and spends over $223,000 on the educational materials, equipment, habitat enhancement, restocking native birds and rewards for game law violations in Louisiana.

St. Charles Catholic’s Double Diamond Club is hosting its secondannual Double Diamond Gala to benefit the baseball and softball programs Saturday, March 13, in the school gym and cafeteria.

The night begins with dinner served at 7:30 p.m. Dancing is scheduled from9 p.m. to 1 a.m. to the sounds of Summer Breeze. Door prize and cash prizedrawings will be held. Five $200 prizes will be drawn, with the grandprize award of $5000 to be picked at 11 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased from members of the Double Diamond Club or Frank Monica who can be reached at 652-3809.

The Louisiana Sportsmen’s Show returns to the Louisiana Superdome Wednesday, March 17 through Sunday, March 21, offering the general public the largest and newest selection of sportfishing gear, boats and hunting equipment at special Show discount prices.

Activities include “Water Dog” seminars, fishing and hunting seminars, the Louisiana Sportsmen’s Hall of Fame and the annual Big Buck contest.

Show hours are 4-10 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $7 for adults and $3for children.

The Chrysler Junior Golf Scholarship Program will award 40 $1,000 educational scholarships to America’s most deserving junior golfers.

Special Olympics Louisiana’s new “Share the Victory” motor vehicle recycling program allows anyone in Orleans, Jefferson, St.

Bernard, St. Tammany and St. Charles parishes to turn extra or unwantedvehicles into “something special for Special Olympics.”An individual can call the “Share the Victory” toll-free number and Special Olympics will arrange to tow away their motor vehicle for free.

The vehicle will be recycled into the funds needed to support the year- round program of sports training and athletic competition for mentally- retarded children and adults in Louisiana.

Vehicles can be in any condition to qualify as long as the owner has the title. Consumers may also be able to take advantage of a tax deduction asthe fair market price of the vehicle is considered a tax deductible donation to Special Olympics.
