Local businesses ‘Have A Heart’L’Observateur / February 10, 1999DESTREHAN – Businesses in the River Parishes are getting ready for the annual Have A Heart Campaign. Have A Heart is a fund-raising campaign designed forhigh-traffic business areas that involves the selling of red paper hearts for $1 each, gold paper hearts for $5 each and platinum hearts for $10 each; and allowing these hearts to be displayed in a public facility.

People may purchase these hearts in honor of a loved one or friend, or the donor may simply attach his business card to the heart for display.
All proceeds will aid the American Heart Association in funding cardiovascular research and the development of educational programs to combat Louisiana’s and the River Parishes’ number one killer – heart disease.
Participating businesses are Ascension of Our Lord School, Bank of LaPlace, First American Bank, First National Bank of St. Charles, German Coast CreditUnion, Hibernia National Bank, Louisiana Federal Credit Union, McDonald’s Restaurant in Luling, Quick Stop Car Wash and Lube Center, Regions Bank, SCTAW Credit Union, St. James Bank and Trust, Shannon’s LaPlace Health and Fitness,Taft Employees Credit Union and Whitney National Bank.
The Have A Heart Campaign in the River Region is being sponsored by St. CharlesParish Hospital, Belle Terre Golf and Country Club and Winn-Dixie Supermarket.
