Most of her family had moved to Reserve, so Martha Goodrum could find no reason why she should not join them there. A single mother, Martha and her 5-year-old son, Christopher James, live with her parents, George and Laura Goodrum.

Martha is one person who seems to know her job well and always finds time to make a friendly comment to customers at Big Lots store in LaPlace. Her friendly”down home” presence there is noticeable and appreciated.

For one and a half years, Martha has worked at Big Lots, having left and come back. Actually, she’s been there since it opened. When not working, she has kept herself busy with arts and crafts such as decorating T-shirts and making dream catchers, which she finds simple, methodic and very relaxing. Her greatest passion, however, is reading, and thatis what she does the most. Historical novels are her favorite.Getting in the car on a nice day and going in any direction just to look around is another big interest that Martha has. She does that as often as possible.Martha came here from Roby, Texas, and so far she likes the area. She andChristopher will be staying here for now, news her faithful customers at Big Lots will be glad to know.
