St. Charles Catholic Quarterback Club meetings will be held everyTuesday night in the school cafeteria from now through the end of the season.
The Riverside Academy Quarterback Club will hold meetings every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria.Tonight’s guest speaker is Ron Swoboda, Zephyrs Radio-TV Color Analyst.
Former NFL player and Lutcher High School alumnus Lionel Washington will be the guest speaker at the weekly Lutcher Quarterback Club meeting Tuesday night. As usual, chicken and dirty rice will be servedbeginning at 7:30 p.m. with the guest speaker following. Coach TimDetillier will wrap up the meeting with his comments on last week’s game and the Bulldogs’ upcoming opponent.
The St. Charles Catholic Athletic Association is holding a monthly$1,000 raffle. Only 100 tickets will be sold each month at a cost of $20per ticket. Drawings are to be held on the 28th of each month. For ticketinformation call coach Don Fernandez at St. Charles Catholic at 652-3029.
The St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office is sponsoring hunter safetyclasses that are free of charge.
All classes will be held at the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office DivisionHeadquarters in LaPlace. Registration is required and you must attend eachday for certification. Class times will be from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.Saturday’s class will start at Nick’s Shooting Range in Garyville at 8 a.m.The schedule of classes: Oct. 20-22 and 24; and Nov. 17-19 and 21.Call 652-7058 or 652-9513 to register or if you have any questions.
Tulane University has been selected to host the NCAA Football Campus Tour today from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the UC Quad lawn on the campus atMcAlister Drive.
Tulane is one of 30 stops on the tour, comprising six high-energy, football realted interactive events open to all ages – Air Crisps Quarterback Accuracy Challenge; GTE Head-to-Head Bungee Run; Sumo Football; KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell Obstacle Course; Chevy Trucks Field Goal Challenge and NCAA Football Fastest Person. Participants also have the opportunityto play the EA Sports NCAA Football ’99 video game in site. Eachinteractive event is free of charge and participants do not register in advance.

Nicholls State University will host the Spalding/Lady Colonel Basketball Fall Coaching Clinic Saturday in the Student Union.
Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the clinic will run to 5 p.m. It willcover NCAA eligibility, developing defense, the 1-3-1 trap defense, motion offense, secondary fast break offense and will culminate with a question and answer roundtable with the Lady Colonel coaching staff.
Other featured speakers are Donnie Quinn, assistant coach at Northeast Louisiana; Pam Slayton of Salmen High School; Syd Acosta of Assumption High School; and Chris Harris, head coach at Houston Baptist University.
Spalding, co-sponsor for the clinic, will also make a presentation.
The cost of the clinic is $35 which will also include lunch at Bubba’s II.

The second annual Bayou Brigade benefiting Special Olympics Louisiana will be held Sunday.
The Bayou Brigade is a motorcycle run that starts in Alexandria, travels to Baton Rouge before moving on to Gretna and the ending site at the Gretna Heritage Festival.
On-site registration costs $25 per rider and $20 per passenger. A limitednumber of T-shirts featuring the Bayou Brigade mascot “Roux de Gator” are available and will be included in the registration packets while supplies last.
All proceeds from the event benefit the children and adults with mental disabilities who participate in Special Olympics Louisiana year-round programs of sports training and competition.

The St. Charles Catholic Homecoming/Ray Laiche Memorial GolfScramble will be held Monday, October 12 at Riverlands Country Club.
Cost is $100 per player and includes golf, lunch, drinks, dinner, tournament gift, mulligans and door prizes. Hole sponsorships areavailable at $50 per hole. For more information contact Jonnie Price at652-8471.
St. Peter Chanel School in Paulina will host its fifth annual golftournament on Monday, Oct. 12, at Briarwood Country Club on AirlineHighway in Baton Rouge.
Teams will consist of a four-man scramble and the entry fee is $75 per player or $300 a team which includes the green fees, cart, range balls, two mulligans, refreshments, lunch and dinner. Individuals who wish toplay but do not have a complete team will be assigned a team.
The top three teams will be awarded prizes as well as opportunities to win various contests. A bar-b-que sausage po-boy will be served for lunchand refreshments will be available during tournament play. Dinner will beserved at the end of the tournament for all players and hole sponsors.
