Rams out to get offense going against Bulldogs

EDGARD – The West St. John Rams will look to work out of their offensivewoes this Friday on the road at White Castle.

Game time is 7 p.m. at West St. John Stadium.The Rams (0-2) fell to Plaquemine, 14-0, last Friday, the second straight week West St. John has failed to score an offensive touchdown. West St.John opened the season with a 48-6 loss to St. James with its only pointscoming on a kickoff return by Quoon Edwards.

West St. John was held to 27 yards against Plaquemine and turned the ballover six times on a wet field. Brent Poche led the attack with 36 yards on14 carries. The Rams defense held Plaquemine to 101 yards and forcedthree turnovers.

White Castle is 1-1 on the season. The Bulldogs are coming off a 16-0blanking of Pointe-Coupee Central last Friday.

It was quite a turnaround for the Bulldogs who lost to Riverside, 53-14, in the opening game of the season. In that game, White Castle allowed 400yards in total offense to the Rebels. The Bulldogs gained 290 yards rushingbut fumbled four times, losing three of them.

The White Castle offense is led by its rushing attack. Running backsBryant Jones and Ferrante Dominique run behind a line led by tight end John Dorsey and linemen Dave Cauthron, Duane Blank and Tim Allen.

The defense is paced by Dominique at linebacker and Dorsey and Leroy Batiste on the line.

West St. John would like a repeat of last year’s game against the Bulldogswhen it ran up 476 yards in total offense in a 52-20 win.

Adair Alexander scored on runs of 22 and 39 yards and threw two touchdowns in amassing 214 total yards. Joseph Gross and DehavenDuronslet each scored three times. The victory was coach Laury Dupont’s100th career victory.

Bryant scored on a 21-yard run and the Bulldogs gained 225 total yards in the loss.

West St. John hosts Donaldsonville next Friday. White Castle returns hometo play Brusly.
