NOAH defeats Baker to advance to state tournament

BAKER – Facing a tough task of defeating Baker on the road, the NOAHGators rose to the occasion with a complete team effort, coming homewith the Little League 9 and 10 year old District II title with a 6-1victory Monday night.Casey Robottom went the distance for the Gators, giving up just anunearned run in the bottom of the sixth. Robottom was backed up by a soliddefense that turned a couple of nifty double plays and tracked down anumber of fly balls hit to the fence.The Gators staked Robottom to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first and wentout to a 6-0 advantage with three more in the top of the fifth, capitalizingon bases on balls issued by Baker pitching. Top hitters for the Gatorsincluded Kyle Olasin, Kendall Diggs and Benny Gomez. The Gators travelled to Shreveport Friday night for the Louisiana LittleLeague 9 and 10 year old state tournament. NOAH faced East Shreveportlast night in its first game of the four-team tournament.Team members are Darin Helm, Kendall Diggs, Casey Robottom, JoshThevenot, Quindall Stanley, Matt Stell, Benny Gomez, Brandon Trant, MikeTurcuit, Chase Berthelot, Kyle Olasin and Jonathan Necaise. The team ismanaged by Kris Olasin. Coaches are Hernandez Robottom and Herb Stell.
