LAPLACE – Chris Speight of Blytheville, Ark. and Jamie Jaspriza of PortSulphur placed first in the men’s and women’s competitions, respectively, at the Collegiate Player’s Tour event held at Belle Terre Country Club June 30 to July 2.

Speight shot a three-day total of seven-under par 209 to take the men’s competition. Troy Muller of Braithwaite and Stephen Phaup of North LittleRock, Ark., placed second with four-under par 212s. Jarrett Walker of Luling placed sixth with a four-over par 220. Otherlocals finishing in the top 31 were Jeff James of LaPlace who tied for 14th with a score of 231 and Chad Laborde, also of LaPlace, who placed 27th with a 250.

Jaspriza had a three-day total of 232 to win by 11 strokes. Jamie Sims ofSulphur Springs was second with a 243.
