Everyone is aware school is out. Children are everywhere. However, someof them are unsupervised. This is an ideal time for parents to re-establishthe lines of communication with their children. Find out who their friendsare, where they go and what they do. It’s not being nosy or invading theirpersonal privacy. It’s taking responsibility and being a good parent. This is a time for parents to spend quality time with their children, doing things together, sharing experiences and building memories to last a lifetime. It doesn’t take a lot to build a happy memory. It doesn’t costmoney. It’s kind words and having fun, taking pleasure in each other’scompany.

Play games with your child. Take walks. Visit a playground. Read together.Talk to them and learn what they think about. Often, you may be surprisedat what you learn.

Summer can be made very special by building such memories, which will carry over when school starts again in the fall.
