Armour joins hospital Board of Governors

LAPLACE – Wilhelmina Armour is River Parishes Hospital’s newest member of the Board of Governors.

Armour received a bachelor’s degree in social studies and English from Southern University and a master’s degree in education from Southeastern Louisiana University. She worked at East St. John High School for 20 years,serving as a teacher for 17 years and as assistant principal for the last three years. During her tenure, she was named the 1982 St. John ParishTeacher of the Year.

Active throughout the River Parishes community, Armour is a charter member of the River Parishes Hospital Auxiliary and currently serves as chairperson for the group’s scholarship fund. She is also a Eucharisticminister and rector at Our Lady of Grace Church in Reserve, vice president of the Democratic Women’s organization and a member of the National Education Association and the American Association of Retired Persons.

A native of the River Parishes, Armour resides in Reserve with her husband, Herman, and son, Stephen, one of four children. She also has sevengrandchildren.
