Six local players named to All-District 9-2A team

LAPLACE – The River Parishes placed six players on the All-District 9-2Asquad, including district most valuable player Elijah Jasmine from WestSt. John.
West St. John coach Antoine Edwards was selected as the district’s coachof the year. Edwards led the Rams to the district title with a 9-1 districtmark and 18-8 record overall. The Rams advanced to the state regionalplayoffs for the second time since 1979 before falling to McCall.
Jasmine, a 6-1 junior, averaged 17.6 points per game for the District 9-2A champion Rams. He was joined on the team by teammates Donreil Louisand Marlon Jackson. Louis, a 6-2 sophomore, led the district in scoringaverage with 22.1 points per game. Jackson, 6-3 sophomore, averaged 11.3points per game this past season.
St. Charles Catholic placed Chris Oney and John Price on the squad. Oney, a6-5 senior, was second in the district with a 21.9 points per gameaverage. Price, a 6-3 junior, averaged 13.3 points a contest.
Keith LeBlanc, a 5-11 junior from Riverside, was named to the all-districtteam after averaging 11.1 points per contest.
Other members of the District 9-2A first team were Ecole Classiquesenior William Gallagher, Ridgewood juniors Chris Collins, Sean Shieldsand Rob Foley and St. Martin’s senior Drew Wilkie.
